PC gamers can currently treat themselves to free copies of Insurmountable and XCOM 2 via the Epic Games Store. The first is a mountain-climbing survival title with procedurally generated environments by ByteRockers’ Games, while the latter probably doesn’t need any real introduction, being the sequel to 2K and Firaxis’ critically acclaimed strategy game centered around alien shenanigans, XCOM. Both games will be available to download for free until April 21, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. EST. Insurmountable and XCOM 2 are normally priced at $24.99 and $59.99 on the Epic Games Store, respectively. Amnesia: Rebirth and Riverbond are the next titles that will be available for free.
Insurmountable (Epic Games Store)
Insurmountable is an adventure roguelike with permadeath, in which the player has to overcome huge mountains. Thanks to the procedurally created environment, no two climbs are the same. Make sure that your climber stays alive by always making sure that your vital values don’t get into the critical range.
This task is made more difficult by a dynamic weather system, day/night changes and a multitude of randomly generated events, where you never know in advance how they will end. Your decisions matter….every single one. Because anyone could be your last.
XCOM 2 (Epic Games Store)
XCOM 2 is the sequel to XCOM: Enemy Unknown, the 2012 award-winning strategy game of the year.
Earth has changed. Twenty years have passed since world leaders offered an unconditional surrender to alien forces. XCOM, the planet’s last line of defense, was left decimated and scattered. Now, in XCOM 2, the aliens rule Earth, building shining cities that promise a brilliant future for humanity on the surface, while concealing a sinister agenda and eliminating all who dissent from their new order.

Join Discussion →XCOM 2 is great and is a must play if you like turn based alien blasting games. I bought it at launch. Too bad it's not the one with all the DLC though.... be warned it can be a tough game. There are certainly levels that required many runs for me to pass.

The difficulty is why I have not started the game yet, I would love to play trough the game, but I have enough games that are a huge time sink as is and I don't realy need another one, especially if it is due to the game beeing hard for the sake of beeing hard.
Actually it's pretty time friendly because it's all broken up into individual missions... so you could just do 1 or 2 and resume some other day and pick right back up. The missions vary in length but I don't think any of them take more than an hour (maybe the final ones, can't exactly recall)

It’s honestly not that hard if turn based strategy games are your Thing. Once I understood the game mechanics, I beat the game on legend difficulty with iron man enabled. Chosen sniper rifle with Icarus armor is amazing.
