Power and Temperature
In a similar vein to our CPU clock frequency testing, we’ll also look at power and temperature running Cinebench R23 and also Gaming in Cyberpunk 2077.
Power
In a Cinebench R23 10 Minute run, loading the CPUs as hard as possible the Ryzen 7 5800X utilizes more power, 144W, while the Ryzen 7 5800X uses less at 124W. Keep in mind the Ryzen 7 5800X3D is running a lower clock speed, plus a lower Voltage as well, this is very important as to why the power looks different between them.
The same pans out while gaming in Cyberpunk 2077, the Ryzen 7 5800X reaches 99W, while the 5800X3D is at 77W.
Temperature
Because of the higher Voltage and clock speed on the Ryzen 7 5800X it reached a whopping almost 87c in Cinebench R23, definitely proving that it runs the hottest. The 5800X3D was actually a little cooler at 81c, though still kind of toasty generally speaking, but the lower CPU Voltage certainly helps it here.
While gaming through neither CPU is particularly hot. The 5800X is hotter at 70c, and the 5800X3D is cooler at 62c.
