Paramount Pictures has released the first official teaser trailer for the next installment of Tom Cruise’s popular action spy film series, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One. The teaser is a visual treat for fans of the actor’s signature action style, featuring explosions, death-defying stunts, and other trademarks of the movie franchise that began with the original 1996 film, which was directed by Brian De Palma and served as a continuation of the original TV series that aired on CBS and ABC. Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One will finally reach theaters next year on July 14, 2023, following several delays, but the plot of the film is still being kept under wraps.
Dead Reckoning Part One is particularly notable as it is the first sequel to bring back Eugene Kittridge, the director of the IMF in the 1996 film. In that movie, the character shared one of the most iconic scenes of the entire franchise, which is the “Kittridge, you’ve never seen me very upset” exchange with Hunt. Kittridge is once again played by Henry Czerny, who has good screen time in the new trailer.
