Artwork that was leaked online yesterday following Capcom’s official Street Fighter 6 reveal had suggested that the sixth installment of the popular fighting series will feature at least 22 characters within its roster, including all eight original World Warriors from Street Fighter II and other fan favorites such as Cammy and Akuma (Gouki), which were introduced in Super Street Fighter II and Super Street Fighter II Turbo, respectively. Capcom has now acknowledged the leak in a tweet stating that “we’ve all seen things we weren’t supposed to see” and how it’s appreciative of all the positive reactions, seemingly confirming the validity of the images, including other leaked material that include closed alpha gameplay footage. Street Fighter 6 will release in 2023 with a completely revamped art style and single-player immersive story mode, one that “pushes the boundaries of what a fighting game is” and allows players to create their own avatar.

The original source of the leak is unknown – some reports suggest it was initially posted on 4chan before being shared on other forums – but the images can now be seen on social media and forums like ResetEra.

The roster appears to be legitimate, and if so confirms that all eight original ‘World Warriors’ from Street Fighter II will star in Street Fighter 6.

Other returning characters include Cammy and Dee Jay from Super Street Fighter II, Akuma from Super Street Fighter II Turbo, Juri from Super Street Fighter IV, and Ed and Rashid from Street Fighter V.

New characters include a Mexican fighter called Lily, a dreadlocked American fighter called Kimberley, and a mysterious clawed Chinese fighter called A.K.I.
