Hideo Kojima has officially entered into a partnership with Xbox to make his next potential blockbuster a reality. Speaking during today’s 90-minute Xbox Games Showcase, the legendary game creator behind the Metal Gear, Snatcher, and Policenauts franchises teased a little bit about the mysterious and exciting project, confirming that it will leverage Microsoft’s cutting-edge cloud technology. There’s no indication of what genre Kojima’s game might fall in, but the visionary has suggested that it will be a revolutionary one, something that “no one has ever experienced before.” Kojima revealed that he had wanted to make this game for a long time but couldn’t until the right technology finally came along.

“Yes, there is a game I have always wanted to make,” Kojima said. “It’s a completely new game, one that no one has ever experienced or seen before. I’ve waited very long for the day when I could finally start to create it. With Microsoft’s cutting-edge cloud technology and the change in the industry’s trend, it has now become possible to challenge myself to make this never-before-seen concept. It may take some time, but I’m looking forward to team up with Xbox Game Studios and hope to bring yo some exciting news in the future.”

Now, I’m excited to announce a special partnership between Xbox Game Studios and one of the greatest creative minds and innovators in our industry, someone that I have admired for many years. Today, I’m pleased to share we will be working together to create a brand-new experience like we’ve never seen before. Thank you Phil.Thank you Kojima-san. We’re thrilled to have Kojima Productions working with our teams at Xbox Game Studios.
