Blizzard has sent out a tweet confirming that a new Overwatch 2 beta will be launched later this month on June 28 ahead of the game’s recently announced October early access release date. The developer provided a new glimpse at the shooter during this weekend’s Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase, sharing a video that confirmed the game would be available on PC, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, and Nintendo Switch platforms beginning on October 4. Overwatch 2 is releasing as a free-to-play title, meaning that anyone can check out its new PvP experience, heroes, and maps at no cost. Blizzard has promised that it’ll be sharing more Overwatch 2 details during a reveal event set for June 16 at 10:00 a.m. PDT. Sign-ups for the upcoming beta event will begin June 16.

At its core, we believe the game is a social experience that should be shared with everyone. This shift to free-to-play will open up and make the world of Overwatch available to more people than ever before, removing the barrier of entry and making it easier than ever to quickly jump into a match with friends. Inclusion is a strong driving force for this decision; when we stick together and work as a team, there’s nothing that can stand in our way.
