PotatoOfDoom1337 has added AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 2.0 support to Cyberpunk 2077 by swapping in some .dll files. An NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 can run the game at around 45 FPS in 4K with the mod, according to the modder. PotatoOfDoom1337 says that the mod may have bugs, but it is exciting for owners of weaker graphics cards seeking improved performance with the GPU-intensive game.

This mod attempts to replace DLSS with FidelityFx Super Resolution 2.0. The mod is still in development, but early results are already quite impressive: My GTX 1080 is able to run Cyberpunk in 4k with about ~45 FPS which is a 2x improvement compared to the native 4k performance while having a very minor quality impact. Also, yes! this is mod is compatible with any AMD, Intel, and Nvidia GPU that can handle Cyberpunk.

Both FSR 2.0 and Nvidia DLSS are temporal upscalers and work (except for some minor differences) very similar. This means that both systems need similar data to work. Luckily, NVIDIA publishes its DLSS implementation as a dynamic library ( a dll file). This allows us to simply replace the DLL in question with our own version that is able to translate NVIDIA DLSS to FSR 2.0 commands. API reimplementations like Wine or DXVK work in a similar way.

As a child of the 70’s I was part of the many who became enthralled by the video arcade invasion of the 1980’s. Saving money from various odd jobs I purchased my first computer from a friend of my dad, a used Atari 400, around 1982. Eventually it would end up being a lifelong passion of upgrading and modifying equipment that, of course, led into a career in IT support.
