Performance numbers for an engineering sample of a Core i7-13700K have appeared on Geekbench, offering a glimpse at how all three of Intel’s upcoming 13th Gen Core K-Series CPUs might compare with its Alder Lake counterparts and AMD’s Ryzen 5000 Series processors.

The Core i7-13700K, a 16-core chip (8 P-cores, 8 E-cores), managed to reach a single-core score of 2,090 and multi-core score of 16,542 in the Geekbench test. These numbers would make the Raptor Lake CPU up to 17% faster than the Core i7-12700K, according to comparisons shared by Wccftech, which also suggest that the Core i7-13700K is noticeably faster than the Ryzen 9 5950X in single-core performance.

The Core i7-13700K was tested on an ASRock Z690 Steel Legend WiFi 6E motherboard paired with 32 GB of DDR4 memory running at 3,600 Mbps transfer speeds. It’s listed with a base frequency of 3.39 GHz and maximum frequency of 5.287 GHz.

The comparisons also provide an idea of how the Core i7-13700K might compare to its other Raptor Lake siblings, such as the Core i5-13600K.

Compared to the results from yesterday, the Intel Core i7-13700K is around 5% faster than the Intel Core i5-13600K CPU in single-threaded and 15% faster in multi-threaded benchmarks. Do note that we are using the DDR4 benchmarks as a basis of comparison since the same standard and board were used for testing the 13700K. The DDR5 version of the 13600K produces much better results but still lags slightly behind the 13700K.

Intel will launch its first 13th Gen Core “Raptor Lake” processors and premium Z790 motherboards during the week of October 17, according to a recent post from leaker Enthusiastic Citizen.

H770 and B760 motherboards are expected to be unveiled later during next year’s CES event, which takes place January 5–8, 2023.
