NVIDIA has agreed to reimburse manufacturers for the time and money they’ve spent on producing boxes for the GeForce RTX 4080 (12 GB), which are now irrelevant following the graphic card’s cancellation, according to sources with Gamers Nexus. NVIDIA revealed that this model will no longer exist (at least, under that name) last week, sharing a short post on the official GeForce site about how it had “unlaunched” the product because it’s “confusing” and “isn’t named right.” The GeForce RTX 4080 (16 GB) will still be available, beginning on November 16th.

From a Gamers Nexus report:

Gamers Nexus has confirmed with multiple AIB partners that their boxes are being collected and destroyed or sent to recycling centers. From what we understand, NVIDIA is at least subsidizing the boxes or part of them to be replaced, so that’s good […].

We have not been able to independently verify the claim with our own eyes, but we’ve at least heard it from two sources at two different companies that NVIDIA is helping with the box art.
