ASUS ROG has announced its all-new Strix Gold Aura Edition series power supplies featuring ATX 3.0 16-pin PCI Express compatibility. The Strix Gold Aura Edition series succeeds the previous Strix Gold edition with updated technology for newer graphics cards. They most notably now feature the 16-pin 12VHPWR power connector that can provide up to 600 W of power delivery.

We built the original Strix 850 W Gold PSU to provide stable, efficient, cool, and quiet power to mainstream rigs of all stripes. But technology marches ever onward, and with modern graphics cards driving the new ATX 3.0 standard of power delivery, it’s time to take Strix to the next level.

These new ASUS Republic of Gamers Strix Gold Aura Edition series power supply units come in 750 W, 850 W, 1000 W, and 1200 W variants. The 1200 W model is absent from the specification sheet that ASUS has provided and will likely be provided closer to launch. They feature a larger heatsink, up to twice the size of other PSU heatsinks, for improved cooling and longer 0dB operation when not under heavy loads. Additional cooling is provided via a 135 mm dual ball-bearing cooling fan that utilizes ASUS ROG’s axial-tech fan design. The PSUs are encased in an aluminum chassis and are rated at 80 PLUS Gold.

The ASUS ROG Strix Gold Aura Edition series also come with a 10-year limited warranty (covers core parts while RGB components are for 3 years) and are compatible with Aura Sync RGB. An RGB port is included allowing them to be connected and controlled via a motherboard RGB header.

In addition, as the name suggests, the Strix Gold Aura Edition series is now compatible with Aura Sync, thanks to new RGB lighting on the ROG Fearless Eye logo. Builders can make use of the included RGB connection cable to plug the power supply directly into a three-pin addressable RGB header on the motherboard, and the its lighting can be synced with the rest of the system —  so the power supply can now enjoy all the same unique lighting patterns as other attached ROG gear.

We’re so confident about the reliability of the Strix Gold Aura Edition power supplies that we back them with a 10-year limited warranty.

As a child of the 70’s I was part of the many who became enthralled by the video arcade invasion of the 1980’s. Saving money from various odd jobs I purchased my first computer from a friend of my dad, a used Atari 400, around 1982. Eventually it would end up being a lifelong passion of upgrading and modifying equipment that, of course, led into a career in IT support.
