GIGABYTE has announced that its Z790 AORUS TACHYON motherboard for 13th Gen Intel Core processors was used to attain 10 new world overclocking records, including PCMark 7 and 3D Mark, as well as 16 GFP (Global First Place) and 9 HFP (Hardware First Place) records, new milestones that the company says proves the motherboard’s “ultimate” overclocking power.
Team Australia was the overclocking team that achieved these overclocking records, which are detailed in the table below.

“It’s inspiring that Z790 AORUS TACHYON breaks 10 overclocking world records and more than 20 various overclocking scores, which not only proves GIGABYTE’s strong R&D strength but also demonstrates that GIGABYTE’s devotion to providing formidable O.C motherboard, said Jackson Hsu, Director of the GIGABYTE Channel Solutions Product Development Division.
“We believe this is just the beginning and will continue to create superior overclocking performance and records by Z790 AORUS TACHYON. We look forward to seeing more overclockers around the world using this motherboard to break more world records!”
The Z790 AORUS TACHYON does not appear to be listed on GIGABYTE’s website yet, but the manufacturer has explained how the motherboard is built exclusively for overclocking:
With the consistency from GIGABYTE’s widely recognized durability and stability, Z790 AORUS TACHYON provides comprehensive power management through its advanced direct VRM power design of full tantalum capacitor matrix with better transient response and less mechanical interference to improve the stability of power supply and overclocking. The Shielded Memory Routing, SMD memory DIMMs with comprehensive DDR5 memory overclocking BIOS setting also enhance overclocking stability. Furthermore, the full-coverage thermal design of MOS area significantly improves heat dissipation to stabilize VRM operation with low temperatures. Furthermore, the built-in overclocking kit design on the motherboard provides shortcut keys, toggle switches, and voltage detection functions which many overclockers use for overclocking adjustment. This allows more convenient tweaking for overclockers to break the limit with ease.
The Z790 AORUS TACHYON succeeds the Z690 AORUS TACHYON for 12th Gen Intel Core processors, which counts a 15+1+2 Phases Direct VRM Design with 105A Power Stage and Tantalum Polymer Capacitor and memory OC of DDR5-10223.4 as some of its key features.
It arrived at retailers in December 2021, according to an Amazon listing.
