GSC Game World has released a new official trailer for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, a fourth installment of the classic FPS survival horror series that is being developed on Unreal Engine 5 and will reintroduce players to the Zone, a forbidden territory surrounding the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant that features dangerous mutants, deadly anomalies, and other foes.

“We are sharing the new trailer to have a peek at what the Zone is like for today,” GSC Game World wrote regarding the new footage, which comes six months after the game’s previous trailer. “In the middle of a ghost town, there is a pack of stray dogs that will find you. Every door can cover the gun pointed at your head, and every corner hides some danger for the common traveler.”

Complementing the new trailer are seven new HQ screenshots of the game sourced from the footage above, which GSC Game World uploaded via WeTransfer to further demonstrate the graphical quality made possible through Epic Games’ latest engine.

“S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl applies the full potential of Unreal Engine 5 as well as motion capture and photogrammetry technologies to provide you with benchmark-setting graphics and ultimate immersion into the game world,” GSC Game World explained.

“The advanced artificial intelligence system will compel the stalker to utilize a tactical approach against numerous enemies, challenging and keeping even the most hard-boiled players engaged. A-Life 2.0 life-simulating system builds a holistic live environment where player’s actions have an impact on the world of the Zone.”

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl is slated for release in 2023, well over a decade after the previous installment, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat, which initially surfaced for Windows platforms in October 2009.

Multiple editions of the game will be available, including a $339.99 physical Ultimate Edition that comes with an Artefact Container Lamp, SteelBook case, art book, backpack, and other collectibles.

An AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti, or better graphics card is required for the recommended experience, according to system specifications shared by GSC Game World.
