Nintendo is planning to release another special edition OLED Switch model next year, according to Kysen, a user on Famiboards, who shared a set of images today that show off what appears to be a new Switch console themed after The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, a new mainline Zelda game that is slated for release in 2023.

The system has not been confirmed by Nintendo yet, but the lighting and texture that can be observed on the box seem to suggest that the images are genuine and not Photoshopped.

“In addition to the vast lands of Hyrule, the latest entry in the storied Legend of Zelda series will take you up into the skies!” reads a description for Nintendo’s latest Zelda adventure, which won Most Anticipated Game at The Game Awards 2022.

“Look forward to Link’s massive adventure starting again when The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, drops for Nintendo Switch on May 12, 2023.”

Nintendo’s previous special edition Switch consoles include the Nintendo Switch Animal Crossing: New Horizons Edition and Nintendo Switch – OLED Model Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Edition, a special edition console that was announced in September 2022 to complement the release of its latest Pokémon game.

The Nintendo Switch – OLED Model Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Edition appears to be sold out but remains listed for $359.99 on the My Nintendo Store, featuring a glossy white dock with Pokémon illustrations, specially designed Joy-Con controllers, and other unique design elements.

According to recent rumors, Nintendo has canceled its plans for a more powerful Switch model and is focusing its efforts on developing a true, next-gen successor instead.
