AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D users may not necessarily need an expensive AM5 motherboard to achieve great gaming performance out of their Zen 4 3D V-Cache processors. Minteaser, a Korean YouTuber, has shared benchmarks for the Ryzen 7 7800X3D running on MSI’s Pro X670-P WIFI motherboard and GIGABYTE’s A620M Gaming X, and while these motherboards sit on opposite ends of the AM5 chipset scale, both were able to deliver a similar level of performance in games that include Forza Horizon 5 (195 vs. 193 average FPS) and Cyberpunk 2077 (203 average FPS for both). That said, pairing the Ryzen 7 7800X3D with an X670 may not be a bad idea, as this test also alludes to a noticeable differences in clock speeds between the two (4.8 GHz vs. 4.4 GHz). The Ryzen 7 7800X3D is available now for $449, while A620 motherboards can seemingly be found for under $100.
