Conclusion
In this review, we strapped the Cooler Master Hyper 622 Halo Black to our test bench to see how it performed against other air coolers that we’ve tested. With its unique look and RGB fan, it helps your build look unique compared to your friends while cooling your CPU in the process. So, let’s recap the performance below and see how the Cooler Master Hyper 622 Halo Black stood up!
Summary of Temperatures
Cooler Master Hyper 622 Halo Black With AMD Ryzen 7 2700X
To summarize today’s performance, the Cooler Master Hyper 622 Halo Black turned in the best air-cooling performance that we’ve seen on this test rig to date. At stock settings, it achieved 53 degrees Celsius with its fans maxed out and only warmed up to 58.75 degrees Celsius at its lowest fan speeds.
When overclocking, the Cooler Master Hyper 622 Halo Black succeeded where most other coolers fail – keeping our test rig system stable when running at just 1000 RPM on the fan configuration.
Summary of Sound Levels

At both 1000 and 1500 RPM fan speed settings, the Cooler Master Hyper 622 Halo Black easily blended in with the ambient room sound levels and we could not hear a thing. When we set the fans at 11 (resulting in 2100 RPM), the Cooler Master Hyper 622 Halo Black was a slight contributor to the overall subjective listening experience of the room.
Final Points
The Cooler Master Hyper 622 Halo Black is a cooler that extracts the most performance possible out of the “looks like a block tower cooler” category of CPU coolers. We compared it against a pair of coolers that target the silent side of the market, and it certainly outperformed them while turning in slightly higher noise level results.
It outperformed the three comparison units and turned in the best cooling performance that we’ve seen on our current test bench. Our only hesitation comes from the installation where we were concerned our hand would break before it was installed, which lead to a seemingly much higher mounting pressure on the socket compared (which also may partially account for its superior performance).
When it comes to price we find that the Cooler Master Hyper 622 Halo Black will be available for $69.99 in e-tail. If you’re only looking at performance numbers, it’s hands down the way to go with your hard-earned dollars. The only thing that might scare you off is if you don’t like RGB or want something a bit more petite.
While the overall score may not seem like a blown-out-of-the-water score, the weight of the ease of installation gave it a bit of an arrow to the knee, but it’s still worthy of our highest Gold Award for its performance.
If you’re looking for the best air cooler that we’ve looked at, then ring the bell and pick up the Cooler Master Hyper 622 Halo Black (or White) as it should be right at the top of your shortlist.
