Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 isn’t set to release until October 20, 2023, but the PlayStation 5 exclusive has gone ahead and unveiled its theme song, “Greater Together,” composed by film and game music veteran John Paesano. Fans of Insomniac Games’ latest sequel can now listen to the new track through Paesano’s YouTube channel, including Spotify.

John Paesano is an Emmy-nominated and BAFTA-winning composer known for his work in film, television, and video games. He has collaborated with director Wes Ball on the Maze Runner film series and composed for two Marvel Television series, Daredevil and The Defenders. In the gaming world, Paesano has contributed music to Detroit Become Human, Marvel’s Spider-Man, and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, the latter of which earned him a BAFTA for Best Music in a Video Game.

Paesano’s involvement in the Spider-Man franchise began when he was tasked with composing the score for Marvel’s Spider-Man. He worked closely with game director Bryan Intihar to create several character themes, emphasizing the need for the music to be its “own character” in the game. Paesano ensured that his music struck a balance between the cinematics and gameplay, immersing players in the experience. He focused on creating a unique musical identity for Peter Parker, distinguishing his work from past Spider-Man films and games.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will feature both Peter Parker and his younger protege, Miles Morales, as they return to New York City to face an emerging threat from one of the most iconic members of Spider-Man’s rogue’s gallery of villains: Kraven the Hunter. The game promises to deliver an exciting new adventure, allowing players to quickly switch between Peter Parker and Miles Morales to experience different stories and epic new powers.
