Test Setup

Please read the information on our GPU testing procedures and methodology here.  Note that our GPU Testing Bench has been upgraded to the Ryzen 7 7800X3D CPU and AM5 platform.

System Setup Table

We are using the motherboard’s current default BIOS settings on the latest release BIOS. We have enabled PCI-Express Resizable BAR in the motherboard BIOS.  This means we are utilizing Resizable BAR on NVIDIA GPUs and AMD Smart Access Memory on AMD GPUs in all our testing.  We have enabled EXPO I in the BIOS for the memory.

We are using a fresh install of Windows 11 Pro with the latest Windows Updates, including the 22H2 Fall 2022 update. We have the latest drivers installed including the latest chipset drivers from AMD.  We are using the “Balanced” power profile in Windows Settings.  Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling is ENABLED in Windows.  VBS is DISABLED and Game Mode is ENABLED.

SUMMARY

We reviewed the ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 4060 OC Edition video card and tested it at 1080p, with Ray Tracing and DLSS and DLSS 3 performance. This video card is aimed at the 1080p gameplay experience, and it delivers a playable experience, especially with DLSS. It provides a performance uplift versus the previous generation, and also brings a reduction in cost, making its price to performance versus the previous generation positive. It is incredibly power efficient, and runs cool with exciting levels of overclocking potential. Overall, it offers compelling features and performance versus the competition at this price point.

I dunno about those final points.

I would say if price is a concern and you want to game look at what you can get for 250 of the previous gen. With a bit of hunting you'll find a 3070ti that outperforms the 4060 in every way.

I still show 3070 Tis as >$500 - maybe gray market you can find them that low?

Oh wow yea you're right that's a shock... 350 on reseller pages with who knows what you're getting.
