Pre-orders for the Resident Evil 4 remake are now live on the Apple App Store, and according to screenshots that have been shared online, the new port of the survival horror game for iPhone 15 and other select iOS devices will cost $59.99/£57.99 to unlock when it releases later this year. Those numbers would make the mobile version of RE4 just as pricey as the console and PC editions of the game, which are currently listed for $59.99 on various storefronts, including Steam, where a Deluxe Edition can also be had for $69.99. The pricing for RE4’s mobile edition comes on the heels of new comments from Capcom President Haruhiro Tsujimoto, who discussed the rising costs of game development during Tokyo Game Show 2023 and claimed that “game prices are too low.”

“Personally, I feel that game prices are too low,” Tsujimoto said. “Development costs are around 100 times higher than they were in the days of the Famicom (NES), but the price of software hasn’t risen so much.”

“There is also a need to raise wages in order to attract talented people. Given that wages are rising across the industry as a whole, I think the option of raising unit prices is a healthy form of business.”

Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil Village are coming to the newly revealed iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max this year. The critically acclaimed Resident Evil 4 will also release for iPad and Mac, along with Resident Evil Village on iPad, in 2023.

Available on the App Store later this year, both games support cross-progression, so players’ progress is synced across iPhone, iPad, and Mac. With a free download, players can experience high-end gameplay with stunning graphics before accessing the full game with just one in-app purchase.

Resident Evil 4 will be playable on iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and every iPad and Mac with the M1 chip or later. Resident Evil Village will be available on iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPad Air, and iPad Pro with the M1 chip or later.
