How much originality is there at Disney these days? Not enough, according to the @thepokeflutist account, which recently learned that one of the images that Disney used for its Loki season 2 poster was a stock image from Shutterstock, and not only that, it was seemingly generated with AI. @thepokeflutist said that he ran the image through multiple AI image checkers, many of which suggested it was AI generated, and although there’s some evidence to the contrary, additional credence comes in the form of smudged letters and other visual errors that can be seen in zoomed-in versions of the poster. Loki Season 2, Episode 2 will premiere on Disney+ this Thursday, October 12.
…the background on the Loki artwork appears to have been pulled from an identical stock image on Shutterstock titled “Surreal Infinity Time Spiral Space Antique.”
According to Shutterstock’s contributor rules, AI-generated content is not permitted to be licensed on the platform unless it’s created using Shutterstock’s own AI-image generator tool. That way the widely used stock image site can prove IP ownership of all submitted content.
Running the actual image itself through various AI image checkers (aiornot, illuminarty, huggingface, hive), led to 3/4 stating its AI (not a large sample size I know) pic.twitter.com/xhbjwqhBuy
