Rockstar Games is getting really close to unveiling Grand Theft Auto VI, but whenever that game does come out, players probably won’t find the word Social Club anywhere.

As noted by the @videotechuk_ account, Rockstar has seemingly dropped all instances of the word “Social Club” from its websites, including socialclub.rockstargames.com, the landing page for the online gaming service that Rockstar originally launched over a decade ago.

Here’s some of the changes that @videotechuk_ spotted, which seems to confirm that “Rockstar Games” will be used instead of Social Club from this point forward:

  • OLD: Only Social Club members that sign in will gain full access to all areas and features, plus personal stats and exclusive game content unlocks
    • NEW: Join over 200 million Rockstar Games members worldwide on the official Rockstar Games platform to enhance and extend your gaming experience.
  • OLD: Only Social Club members that sign in will gain full access to all areas and features, plus personal stats and exclusive game content unlocks.
    • NEW: Only Rockstar Games members that sign in will gain full access to all areas and features, plus personal stats and exclusive game content unlocks.

Digging deeper into the website, @videotechuk_ also learned that most of the Social Club mentions are gone even within the code, an indication that Social Club’s days are officially over.

According to the GTA Wiki, Rockstar launched Social Club back in April 2008, coinciding with the launch of the console version of GTA IV.

Some of the games that are tied to Social Club include the original Red Dead Redemption, as well as Max Payne 3, an installment of the series that didn’t involve Remedy Entertainment.

Rockstar Games’ games launcher, which the company released on September 17, 2019, doesn’t seem to be going anywhere.
