Warhammer 40,000 fans have a bit of a wait ahead of them before they can suit up as Titus again.

In a press release about its latest line-up and partnerships, publisher Focus Entertainment revealed that Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is now scheduled to ship in the second half of 2024 instead of 2023, marking a delay for the new sequel from Saber Interactive that apparently won’t come out now until nearly 13 years after the original’s release.

Here’s the statement from Focus, which explains how the team needs additional time to make sure the game isn’t junk:

Focus Entertainment will reveal the official launch date of the highly anticipated Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 – the iconic Games Workshop licence – in early December. The game is now poised to ship in the second half of 2024, to provide the time needed to properly polish the game and to ensure the best possible experience. Focus Entertainment is committed to releasing a game that is of the highest quality and that exceeds the expectations of the countless fans of the franchise. Space Marine 2 has already accumulated over a million wish lists to date.

An extended gameplay trailer for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 that Focus Entertainment shared in August can be found below, showing what appears to be a good time for not only fans of the franchise, but also for fans of third-person shooters like Gears of War.

And here’s an official description for the game, which sees Titus, the Space Marine who was introduced in the 2011 game from Relic Entertainment, as an even stronger Primaris Space Marine:

Embody the superhuman skill and brutality of a Space Marine, the greatest of the Emperor’s warriors. Unleash deadly abilities and an arsenal of devastating weaponry to obliterate the relentless Tyranid hordes.

Hold at bay the horrors of the galaxy in epic battles on far-flung planets. Uncover dark secrets and drive back the everlasting night to prove your ultimate loyalty to humanity.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 will be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
