CD PROJEKT RED has detailed its upcoming Update 2.1 for Cyberpunk 2077 which is set to roll out on December 5, the same day as when the Ultimate Edition gets released. The development team began teasing about the next update the other day saying that it had been grinding away in secret to get it ready for next week’s launch and they officially revealed it in a new podcast last night. Update 2.1 will add a new Night City Area Transport (NCART) system. This is something that had been seen in early preview builds of the game but had been dropped when it launched.

NCART is essentially a form of fast travel for players but they can opt to sit down and “experience” what it’s like to ride a metro in Night City. From panhandlers to enjoying the scenery of NC, it looks like what one might expect from a futuristic metro, perhaps just a bit cleaner though. Another new feature is Radio on the Go which gives players the option to enjoy their tunes while on foot, or the metro. Atom Smasher has been updated to provide a more adaptive boss fight along with the ability to use the Sandevistan powerup as seen in the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime.

Other changes include the addition of more vehicles including motorcycles. Players can now perform stunts and knife attacks while on motorcycles as well. Car races can be replayed and players will need to look over their shoulders should they tangle with a gang and attempt to drive off since gangs can now give chase. A new highway has also been opened. These are just some of the highlights, which also include additional accessibility features, and CD PROJEKT RED has also said there will be more announced when Update 2.1 rolls out for Cyberpunk 2077.

Update 2.1 Details (per REDstreams Summary and Recap):

Travel by NCART metro

Travel around Night City with ease thanks to Night City Area Rapid Transport metro services. Stop worrying about the traffic and enjoy the view thanks to the 5 metro lines stopping on a total of 19 stations spread throughout the city. Service available only after V receives the text message from NCART.

Radio on the go

This one is for all of the travelling audiophiles in our community! We’ve added a radioport that allows V to listen to the radio while exploring Night City on foot or riding the metro. It comes with adjustable volume and it will automatically turn off when game audio is crucial — for example during conversations.

Improved boss fights

We’ve introduced a number of improvements to boss fights, most notably to the one with Adam Smasher. It is now more iconic, as Smasher will better adapt to the tactics used by players, will be much more relentless and will use Sandevistan — much like he was in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.

Attention all petrolhe… <ekhm> CHOOH2-heads!

We’ve got a lot of new stuff for all motoring enthusiasts out there!

  • New vehicles, including new motorbikes and a real classic: a cabriolet version of Porsche 911!
  • Replayable car races, available after the race with Claire is finished.
  • More immersive motorbike riding — including ability to throw knives while riding, leaning, doing wheelies and even flips!
  • New car chases — if you mess with the gangs while doing gigs, they might hunt you down later!
  • Newly opened highway.

Making Cyberpunk even more accessible

We’ve moved all of the existing accessibility options and added a handful more to a new Accessibility tab in-game settings. Would you like a simplified UI? Or maybe larger fonts? We’ve got you covered! You can read more about our accessibility features here:

Remember: those are just the highlights of the changes coming in the 2.1 Update on December 5th. For more, stay tuned for Patch Notes that will be shared closer to the release.

Saving money from various odd jobs I purchased my first computer from a friend of my dad, a used Atari 400, around 1982. Eventually it would end up being a lifelong passion of upgrading and modifying equipment that, of course, led into a career in IT support.
