The GeForce RTX 3050 features 8 GB of memory, but NVIDIA is planning to replace it with a new model that features even less VRAM, according to the latest rumors from China’s Board Channels.

Here’s a translation of the post that was shared online, which claims the new GeForce RTX 3050 will be available as early as next month:

NV is planning the latest product adjustment for the RTX3050 series. The AIC brand manufacturers have been informed that there will be a significant adjustment to the RTX3050 series products. Specifically, NV will discontinue the production of the RTX3050 8G version and directly switch to selling the RTX3050 6G version to meet market demands.

According to information from AIC brand manufacturers, the RTX3050 8G version will be phased out as inventory is depleted, and the RTX3050 6G version is expected to be available for purchase and potentially on the market by January.

NVIDIA is supposedly doing this because the GeForce RTX 3050 is affecting the sales of the GeForce RTX 4060, a newer card that also features 8 GB of GDDR6 memory.

NVIDIA launched the GeForce RTX 3050 in 2022 for $249, while the GeForce RTX 4060 surfaced in June this year for $299.
