Well, the cat is out of the proverbial bag now that an alleged NVIDIA embargo list for the RTX 40 SUPER series has been leaked. It was only a few days ago that websites in China began publishing reportedly leaked information regarding the forthcoming lineup which seemingly confirmed much of its details but now VideoCardz has obtained what appears to be a legitimate NVIDIA embargo list for it. The list details the lineup model names and SKUs, announcements, and on-shelf release dates for each. It also confirms that each model will be released in a different week throughout January 2024, although all three will be announced on January 8. The list also seems to indicate that there could be both Founders Edition (MSRP) and board partner (non-MSRP) models.

Alleged NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 SUPER Series announcement and release schedules

  • January 8, Official product announcements including an unboxing video for the RTX 4070 SUPER
  • January 16, RTX 4070 SUPER MSRP reviewer embargoes lift with an official product launch on January 17
  • January 23, RTX 4070 Ti SUPER MSRP reviewer embargoes lift with an official product launch on January 24
  • January 30, RTX 4080 SUPER MSRP reviewer embargoes lift with an official product launch on January 31

Official hardware specifications for the RTX 40 SUPER series have still yet to be confirmed, although they were blurred out in the alleged NVIDIA list. It is also not confirmed if NVIDIA intends to commit to the Ti SUPER branding, something it has never done before and would combine two different product namings. However, those hoping for a name change may be out of luck since the SKUs and names are also included in the alleged leak but until official packaging hits the shelves anything is still possible. The board numbers, PG141 and PG139, align with their previous non-SUPER counterparts.

  • GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER: PG141/SKU 335
  • GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER: PG141/SKU 323
  • GeForce RTX 4080: PG139/SKU 355

Possible final general specs

Previous rumors for the GeForce RTX 4080 suggested it might get the same GPU as the RTX 4090 but with fewer enabled processors and 20 GB of memory. More recent rumors have said that is not likely the case but instead will have the same AD103 GPU with all 10,240 processors enabled and the same 16 GB of memory and power draw. This will essentially make it a more refined version of the ADA103 GPU. It will be interesting to see what this card finally ends up being as more than a few folks would like to see the 20 GB/AD104 variant.

The GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER, branding aside, looks to be the biggest standout of the lineup. Rumored specifications for this card have stayed consistent with it being upgraded to the AD103 GPU and 16 GB of memory, but only 8,448 processors and a TGP of 285 Watts. This is a big jump from the original RTX 4070 which has 5,888 processors, 12 GB of VRAM, and a power draw of just 200 Watts. At the bottom of the ADA refresh is the GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER with an increased processor count of 7,168 and bumped-up TGP of 225 Watts. Rumored pricing for all three cards has said each could launch at around the original prices for their non-SUPER versions.

As a child of the 70’s I was part of the many who became enthralled by the video arcade invasion of the 1980’s. Saving money from various odd jobs I purchased my first computer from a friend of my dad, a used Atari 400, around 1982. Eventually it would end up being a lifelong passion of upgrading and modifying equipment that, of course, led into a career in IT support.
