It’s no secret that additions to the RTX 40 series are on their way and the latest rumors state that the launch of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 SUPER series will be rolled out in stages come next month. News from overseas is painting a picture that NVIDIA is going to make a formal announcement at a “Special Address” in Las Vegas on January 8th, the day before CES 2024 begins. Ongoing rumors suggest it will officially unveil its GeForce RTX 4070, 4070 Ti, and 4080 SUPER series graphics cards then. According to multiple sources gathered by ITHome (via VideoCardz), the three cards will launch on January 17, 24, and 31, respectively, and board partners are expected to begin shipping their models by the second half of January.

Per ITHome (machine translated):

“According to Bopantang news, NVIDIA plans to announce the new RTX 40 Super series of graphics cards on January 8 (IT Home Note: NVIDIA has previously announced that it will hold a press conference at 0:00 on January 9, Beijing time), including RTX 4080 Super, There are three models: RTX 4070Ti Super and RTX 4070 Super, and the shipment time of major brand manufacturers is probably in the second half of January.”

It has become more commonplace in the last decade for manufacturers to hold their events outside of, or close to, other industry-focused events. Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo, and NVIDIA have been known to do this with CES, the now officially dead E3, and other events where they might even rent spaces in the vicinity of another or hold a separate presentation for new reveals, be it in person or virtual. Given this, it is plausible that the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 SUPER series could be unveiled similarly.

While a fair amount of details regarding the hardware specifications for the GeForce RTX 40 SUPER series has circulated, and occasionally been disagreed upon by various industry info leakers, not much has been said about potential pricing other than it being speculated that each model could mirror the original launch MSRP of its predecessor. ITHome has also gathered rumored pricing for each card.

  • RTX 4070 SUPER 12 GB: $599-$649
  • RTX 4070 Ti SUPER 16 GB: $799-$849
  • RTX 4080 SUPER 16 GB: $999

As a child of the 70’s I was part of the many who became enthralled by the video arcade invasion of the 1980’s. Saving money from various odd jobs I purchased my first computer from a friend of my dad, a used Atari 400, around 1982. Eventually it would end up being a lifelong passion of upgrading and modifying equipment that, of course, led into a career in IT support.
