Throughput Benchmarks (SEQ and RND)

CrystalDiskMark

We are using CrystalDiskMark to benchmark sequential and random throughput of read and write performance. For these NVMe SSDs, we are using the NVMe profile in CrystalDiskMark. This tests SEQ1M Q8T1, SEQ128K Q32T1, RND4K Q32T16, and RND4K Q1T1.

The rated sequential read speed on the TEAMGROUP T-FORCE CARDEA A440 PRO 2TB SSD is 7,400MB/s and the rated sequential write speed is 7,000MB/s. In CrystalDiskMark SEQ1M Q8T1 we are getting just slightly under that for read, and a bit more under for write performance. It’s still very close to the rated speeds, but compared to all the other SSDs on this graph it does miss the mark a bit by comparison, on sequential performance.

In SEQ128K Q32T1 the same is pretty much true, the TEAMGROUP T-FORCE CARDEA A440 PRO 2TB SSD comes in under the performance of the comparison SSDs here. Even though it is rated higher, it seems that sequential performance is where this SSD might be struggling to reach its mark, but the same isn’t true for random performance as you will see below.

In RND4K Q32T16 performance the very much opposite is true of the TEAMGROUP T-FORCE CARDEA A440 PRO 2TB SSD, and it actually performs really good at random performance! Here we are seeing the highest read and write performances out of this group of SSDs, with a read of 4,271MB/s and a write that is very impressive at 6,558MB/s. This is the highest random write speed we’ve seen out of this class of SSDs. So while the TEAMGROUP T-FORCE CARDEA A440 PRO 2TB SSD is a bit under in sequential, apparently in random it’s doing really great!

In RND4K Q1T1 performance, the TEAMGROUP T-FORCE CARDEA A440 PRO 2TB SSD once again has a very strong write performance of 299MB/s, outperforming every other SSD here! This is definitely the strong point of the TEAMGROUP T-FORCE CARDEA A440 PRO 2TB SSD, it’s random performance, and specifically, it’s random write performance.

SUMMARY

We reviewed the TEAMGROUP T-FORCE CARDEA A440 PRO 2TB PCIe Gen4 M.2 NVMe SSD with Graphene Heatsink, which is an affordable PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD with acceptable performance for gaming. It has mixed performance, strong in some areas, weaker in others, but overall provides a solid choice for a gaming build. Its strengths lie in its flexibility for configuration with either a graphene heatsink, or an aluminum heatsink option, and TEAMGROUP offers up to an 8TB model with the same PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD performance.
