Valve has published its list of winners for the 2023 Steam Awards, revealing Baldur’s Gate 3 to be the Steam community’s most cherished game of the year, winning not only the Game of the Year Award, but also the award for Outstanding Story-Rich Game.

Here’s the full list of winners from Valve, which was derived from votes that were collected during the (still ongoing) Steam Winter Sale:

  • Game of the Year: Baldur’s Gate 3
  • VR Game of the Year: Labyrinthine
  • Labor of Love: Red Dead Redemption 2
  • Best Game on Steam Deck: Hogwarts Legacy
  • Better With Friends: Lethal Company
  • Outstanding Visual Style: Atomic Heart
  • Most Innovative Gameplay: Starfield
  • Best Game You Suck At: Sifu
  • Best Soundtrack: The Last of Us Part 1
  • Outstanding Story-Rich Game: Baldur’s Gate 3
  • Sit Back and Relax: Dave the Diver

“Maybe it was its immersive gameplay, or its gripping story… its well-crafted characters, immaculate design, or addictive multiplayer. Whatever the reason, the winner of this year’s Game of the Year Award is an instant classic,” reads a description that Valve shared for Larian’s critically acclaimed Dungeons & Dragons RPG, which is available now at a 10% discount on Steam.

“Congrats! but its not like this wasn’t a sure bet anyway,” one fan wrote in response.

Starfield won because its a 8/10 game with some real innovation. In case you missed it, this forum is not representative of the millions of players that enjoy Starfield,” reads another post that celebrates Bethesda’s win. “We are more powerful than you can possibly imagine.”

“For the record, I didn’t vote for anything,” said another regarding Starfield, which now has a “Mostly Negative” rating on Steam.

Starfield is available for $48.99 on Steam as part of the Steam Winter Sale, which concludes on January 4 at 10 a.m. PT.
