Predator X39 and X34 X OLED Gaming Displays (per news announcement):

“Acer’s newest OLED models include the 39-inch Predator X39 and the 34-inch Predator X34 X, enabling high contrast for incredibly detailed images and ultra-fast refresh rates and response times for the smoothest possible performance. They also support accurate views, even at tight angles of up to 178 degrees. Both deliver UWQHD (3440×1440) resolution with up to a 240 Hz refresh rate and 0.01 ms pixel response time, ensuring gameplay is smooth and free of stutter and lag. The 800R curvature broadens the peripheral view and amplifies the line of vision to deepen engagement. A broad DCI-P3 99% color gamut supports a vast array of colors and shades, while VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 showcases details often hidden in the shadows so no details are missed. These new models are also Eyesafe 2.0 certified, and default to image retention refresh to help prevent eye strain.”

SpatialLabs 3D Products

For some time Acer has been working on developing its glasses-free 3D display offerings and it is adding two more products to the SpatialLabs portfolio. The Aspire 3D 15 uses a 15.6″ UHD display for creating and viewing content. It also includes Microsoft’s Windows 11 AI Copilot, along with Acer’s suite of software for added support. The Acer Aspire 3D 15 can be configured with up to an Intel Core i7-13620H processor and up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 mobile GPU. While this laptop does not feature NVIDIA’s top-tier mobile GPUs it should be noted that this laptop is not designed for gaming.

The next addition is the Predator SpatialLabs Veiw 27 gaming 4K monitor. The display uses proprietary technology for creating 3D game profiles, and dual 2.5-watt speakers with beamforming audio, for additional head tracking. For those still curious about gaming in 3D or just not wanting to delve into the VR experience this could be the display to look out for. Acer has not yet announced an MSRP for this gaming display.

Per news release:

“Eye-catching 2D and 3D visuals with brilliant colors are shown on the Predator SpatialLabs View’s 27-inch, 2D-3D switchable 4K panel, thanks to its lightning-fast 160 Hz refresh rate, 400 nits brightness, and Delta E< 2 color accuracy. With AMD FreeSync and NVIDIA® G-SYNC® compatibility, the 3D gaming monitor delivers vivid, tear-free frames even when gaming under extremely low-light environments.”

Gaming routers

While Acer is well known for its display and laptops it also manufactures routers and has announced a collaboration with Qualcomm to launch two new models. One of them, the Predator Connect X7 5G CPE is said to be the world’s first gaming router to combine 5G and Wi-Fi 7 tri-band BE11000 throughput allowing for up to 3.5 Gbps over 5G. Next is the Predator Connect T7 Wi-Fi 7 Mesh Router for creating additional access points. Both include 320 MHz channel support, 4K QAM, and Multi-Link Operations with Multi-Link Mesh technology. Acer has done a nice job of keeping both, despite being aimed at the gaming community, looking very clean. As Acer debuts these at CES 2024 it has not revealed the MSRP for either yet.

Acer Swift Laptops

Acer is also refreshing and upgrading its Swift line of laptops that feature Intel Core Ultra Processors featuring AI support. Other upgrades include Wi-Fi 7 support, USB Type C with Thunderbolt 4, and a Type-A port for charging, along with HDMI 2.1 and a microSD card reader. Swift Go models can now have up to 32 GB LPDDR5 memory. Bluetooth LE is supported across all three models for premium wireless audio. The three laptops, Swift Go 14 and Go 16, and Swift X 14, will all launch in February.

As a child of the 70’s I was part of the many who became enthralled by the video arcade invasion of the 1980’s. Saving money from various odd jobs I purchased my first computer from a friend of my dad, a used Atari 400, around 1982. Eventually it would end up being a lifelong passion of upgrading and modifying equipment that, of course, led into a career in IT support.
