Early prices for custom versions of NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 40 SUPER series are indicating modest to no increases over MSRP. Partner pricing can sometimes have a major sticker shock in comparison to NVIDIA’s Founders Editions but this time around there could be models available for all three graphics cards in the RTX 40 SUPER family at MSRP or, at least, somewhat close to. Custom cards for all three GPUs are expected to begin launching this month. The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER will be the first of the bunch to arrive this week on January 17. Next will be the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER on January 24 and then the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER finishing this series on January 31. Custom models are expected to begin launching the day after Founders Editions and it has been said that there will not be a Founders Edition of the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER.

VideoCardz has compiled prices gathered from Newegg and BestBuy. They show various custom models with prices ranging from $0-$10 and up to $50-$100 over MSRP. Overall this is somewhat the norm for custom variants which can feature different clock speeds and cooling solutions. It looks as if those seeking alternate versions of the GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER could be in luck for getting them at MSRP or with little increases, that is if scalping or availability issues don’t come into play. Meanwhile, the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER has just two models on the list which are $50-$100 over MSRP. At the moment only one custom model of the GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER could be found and it, the MSI VENTUS 3X OC, was listed at $100 over MSRP for $1,099.99.

Per VideoCardz:

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER 12 GB MSRP: $599

  • NVIDIA Founders Edition: $599.99
  • GIGABYTE WindForce OC: $599.99
  • PNY VERTO OC: $599.99
  • ZOTAC Twin Edge: $599.99
  • MSI VENTUS 2X OC: $609.99
  • MSI VENTUS 2X OC WHITE: $619.99
  • MSI VENTUS 3X OC: $629.99
  • MSI Gaming X Slim: $649.99
  • GIGABYTE GAMING OC: $649.99

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER 16 GB MSRP: $799

  • GIGABYTE Gaming OC: $849.99
  • MSI VENTUS 3X OC: $899.99

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER 16 GB MSRP: $999

  • NVIDIA Founders Edition: $999.99
  • MSI VENTUS 3X OC: $1099.99

GeForce RTX 40 SUPER series models from ASUS are notably absent from this list and it is also expected that there could end up being many more versions from the other graphics card manufacturers listed on it. Overseas manufacturers such as GALAX, and COLORFUL have both begun announcing their custom edition cards but pricing is not yet available for them.

Folks hoping for a lower-cost version of a GeForce RTX 4080 are reminded to keep an eye out for the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER as it uses the same AD103 die and memory capacity found in other RTX 4080 cards. The primary performance-related difference between it and other RTX 4080 models is the lower core count due to the cut-down version of the AD103 die. Even with this limited list, there’s already a $250 price gap between the lowest-cost version of it and the only AIB RTX 4080 SUPER that has so far been listed. If a partner does launch one at MSRP those price gaps could be as much as $300 or more between the two models. However, those looking to get as close to RTX 4090 performance without spending upwards of $1,500-$2,000, or more, could find the pricing for custom models of GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER to be very attractive.

We have NVIDIA’s official GeForce RTX 40 SUPER announcement from CES 2024 which includes complete specifications and features for all three non-custom GPUs here.

As a child of the 70’s I was part of the many who became enthralled by the video arcade invasion of the 1980’s. Saving money from various odd jobs I purchased my first computer from a friend of my dad, a used Atari 400, around 1982. Eventually it would end up being a lifelong passion of upgrading and modifying equipment that, of course, led into a career in IT support.
