Conclusion

MSI has a brand new GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER-based video card with flair and good looks, in a really unique design. Under MSI’s GAMING TRIO lineup is the new MSI GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER 16G GAMING X TRIO WHITE. This video card sports a factory overclock, MSI’s custom cooling, and a white aesthetic with a combination white and silver theme.

This video card is custom from top to bottom, with a clean look, and built to bring the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER performance and features to gamers and enthusiasts. This video card is geared for 1440p or 4K gaming, and with great features like DLSS upscaling, DLSS 3 Frame Generation, and DLSS 3.5 Ray Reconstruction it’s a complete package for gamers.

The GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER uses the more capable GeForce RTX 4080 AD103 die, which allows a 256-bit memory bus and 16GB of VRAM plus more cores, RT cores, tensor cores, ROPs, and all. This upgrades the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti series to a better performance level, and with greater VRAM capacity the ability for more usable Ray Tracing and higher resolution gaming with all the bells and whistles turned on.

Summary

The MSI GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER GAMING X TRIO WHITE provided a great gameplay experience at 1440p or 4K in our testing. At 4K, many games were playable without needing to use upscaling to improve performance. Even in demanding games like Alan Wake 2 and Starfield were playable. In Cyberpunk 2077 it was a little more demanding, but then you have DLSS upscaling to give you that huge boost to performance improving the experience and making 4K viable. At 1440p the MSI GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER GAMING X TRIO WHITE was incredibly powerful, with high and smooth framerates in every game.

When it comes to Ray Tracing performance the MSI GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER GAMING X TRIO WHITE provides a playable gameplay experience at 1440p in almost everything, again without needing upscaling. Even in Alan Wake 2, we were sitting pretty at 50FPS with Path Tracing enabled. Cyberpunk 2077 was the only troublesome game somewhat, but then turning on DLSS upscaling was the answer. Compared to the Radeon RX 7900 XT, the MSI GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER GAMING X TRIO WHITE is going to offer a usable Ray Tracing experience at 1440p or even 4K with DLSS upscaling.

At the time of review, we were only able to adjust the GPU clock frequency offset and memory offsets since this is an early review, and it is early days. The controls were simply not there yet to increase the power limit or power target or adjust the fan speed or Voltage. Without those controls, we ran into power limits when overclocking. Though we could increase the GPU clock speed and memory, and we saw a very positive GPU clock speed increase, ultimately the advantage is throttled due to that function not being there at the time of review.

We are certain that once those controls come to MSI Center, or Afterburner supports it, then you will be able to overclock the MSI GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER GAMING X TRIO WHITE very high and yield about a 7% or so performance improvement from overclocking. The MSI GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER GAMING X TRIO WHITE seemed to have a lot of headroom on the GPU and memory. Even without adding Voltage, we managed to hit a top speed of 3000MHz at the very top, and then it crashed after about 10 seconds. With Voltage adjustment, we feel it could easily be stable at 3GHz, we aren’t far off from that now. The memory also had no trouble overclocking to 24Gbps, and maybe even slightly higher with some power tuning.

All of this was possible as well with the fans on automatic, without needing to adjust them. The MSI GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER GAMING X TRIO WHITE remained very cool with the overclock and temperatures did not increase much at all. The MSI TRI FROZR 3 cooler is more than enough to handle a high overclock on this video card.

Final Points

The MSI GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER 16G GAMING X TRIO WHITE is an appealing factory-overclocked GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER-based video card. It really does have an aesthetic that will turn heads, whether the top or bottom view, it has a lot going on to keep it from being boring. It will naturally fit well in a white PC build, or something light-colored. Even if you did put it in your all-stealth PC it would still stand out and provide nice contrast.

Just keep in mind, that it is a large and bulky video card, it will need proper room in length and height, it is a thick-boy. However, it’s also a very sturdy video card. We can tell that the anti-bending plate is actually doing something on this video card, combined with the backplate, this video is very strong and sturdy, it’s very evident.

The MSI TRI FROZR thermal design is also working very well for this video card, keeping it cool while gaming. The GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER is very power efficient, to begin with, and this very robust design keeps that GPU well cooled, even when overclocked and even on the SILENT BIOS. In fact, with the dual-BIOS option you can run at a slightly higher fan speed in the GAMING mode, or keep it on the SILENT BIOS and it will still keep to the 2670MHz factory boost clock. We tested both SILENT and GAMING BIOS and found SILENT actually provides slightly higher consistent GPU frequency since it is running under the power limits.

Overall, if you are looking for something that has a different look to it, and a different color scheme, based on the new GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER give the MSI GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER 16G GAMING X TRIO WHITE a look. With 16GB of VRAM, and better performance over the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti it is replacing, it will provide a great 1440p experience and viable 4K gaming.
