Update: Minutes after this story was posted the player count crossed over the 2 million mark.

As Palworld achieves yet another sales record in just a matter of days it is also on the verge of crossing another milestone. The momentum for the new game does not seem to slowing down, much, and Pocketpair CEO Takuro Mizobe is making sure everyone knows about it. Mizobe’s latest tweet announces that over 6 million copies have been sold in just 4 days. This continues a meteoric sales trend that began when 2 million copies had been sold on its first day of release.

The CEO also acknowledges in the post that not everything has gone smoothly but given the online nature of the game and the large amount players that have jumped on board, it’s understandable how various servers are being put under a strain to accommodate such huge demands. Speaking of which, at the time of this writing, Steam is reporting there are just under over 2 million players for the new game. and it could get much higher before the day is over. Valve’s Counter-Strike 2 is the closest competitor in the rankings but even then has under half as many players at 944,712. It remains to be seen if the game will conquer the all-time record currently held by PUBG, which according to VGC, managed to have 3,257,248 players online back in 2018.

Controversy and Mods

As Palworld achieves these sales and player records it remains to be seen if there will be fallout from the controversy regarding accusations about the game having used character designs from Pokémon. The modding community has had fun with this as well after one such mod was said to be being worked on to bring two major characters from the Nintendo franchise to Palworld. Meanwhile, modder Puredark who is known for their paywalled DLSS 3 plugin mods for games that don’t include support NVIDIA’s frame generation technology at launch, has released an AMD FSR 3.0 frame generation mod and even posted a video of it working on an ASUS ROG Ally gaming handeld.

Saving money from various odd jobs I purchased my first computer from a friend of my dad, a used Atari 400, around 1982.
