The first wallpapers for the next Tomb Raider game have been released by Crystal Dynamics who launched a new fan page yesterday. The developer tempted fans with a puzzle based on runes and relics which unlocks a tomb and then users were invited to create a free membership account that grants access to the new wallpapers and more.
First Wallpapers
These first images show a more traditional-looking Lara Croft in her iconic outfit and duel-wielding pistols. The prominent T-Rex suggests a lost-world theme where her quest no doubt ends up leading to. Not much else has been said about the upcoming game except that it is being published by Amazon Games and made using Unreal Engine 5.
Society of Raiders
The Society of Raiders is the name Crystal Dynamics has created for its fan page where news and other exclusive content will be unveiled. An introduction by Lara Croft’s mentor and family friend Conrad Roth details the concept behind the Society of Raiders.
“Lara, you asked me once… who are we, this Society of Raiders? Where did we come from? Well, truth be told, we’ve always been here, exploring the darkest corners of forgotten tombs, seeking ancient treasure, uncovering truth… discovering power. We could be anyone – the captain of a ship, a museum curator, a mercenary, or even the heir to a great family. We seek answers to the questions that have haunted humanity since the beginning of time. What mysteries lie undiscovered? What truths remain hidden and shrouded in myth? The world is full of unanswered questions, beyond all limits or reason… adventure awaits!”

The Society of Raiders is seeking new members!
The world of Tomb Raider is filled with colorful characters searching for powerful secrets. Some are in it for the glory, others to preserve history – still others seek to uncover and protect knowledge lost to the ages. Tomb Raiders who share similar interests watch each other’s backs in the most dangerous corners of the world. When conflict is unavoidable, they struggle to best each other in contests of wits and wills. But they all have something in common – a thirst for adventure!

Lara Croft backpack bundle
Aside from the first wallpapers and new fan page Crystal Dynamics has also made Lara Croft’s backpack bundle available for pre-order. The $119 collection includes an actual backpack featuring a number of tomb raider swag including figurines, a journal, pins, and more. Crystal Dynamics has said that since this is a fan-funded project at least 2,500 units must be sold to guarantee production and it will refund the full purchase price if that goal is not met.
