Philippe Ducharme and Roman Campos-Oriola , the directors behind the acclaimed Dead Space remake that released on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on January 27, 2023, has been tasked to build a new team for Motive that will complement EA’s existing Battlefield studios, which already include Criterion, DICE, and Ripple Effect, the companies have announced. Iron Man, one of Motive’s current projects, remains an “important priority,” according to Patrick Klaus, Motive GM.

Klaus explained:

  • “…a group of developers from Motive are joining the talented teams at Criterion, DICE and Ripple Effect to continue unlocking the full potential of Battlefield.”
  • “…[Ducharme and Campos-Oriola] will build a team at Motive to work alongside the Battlefield studios around the world creating what’s next for Battlefield– a universe across both multiplayer and single-player experiences.”
  • “Their proven expertise in storytelling, immersive battles and developing on the Frostbite engine uniquely positions them to help advance the vision for Battlefield, led by Vince Zampella (EVP, Group GM of Respawn and Battlefield) and Byron Beede (SVP, GM Battlefield).”

As for Iron Man:

  • “In parallel, development continues to move forward on our Iron Man project, led by Olivier Proulx (Executive Producer) and Ian Frazier (Creative Director).”
  • “The team made excellent progress this year, hitting a major internal milestone and laying a robust foundation for the journey ahead.”
  • “Iron Man is an important priority for Motive, and I’m very proud of the work we’ve accomplished so far.”

Byron Beede (General Manager, Battlefield) echoing the changes on the Battlefield site:

…Motive Studio – the talented developers known most recently for their work on the critically acclaimed remake of Dead Space and Star Wars: Squadrons – are building a team focused on Battlefield at their studio. We’re tremendously excited for Motive, as they are bringing their expertise with Frostbite and compelling storytelling to the fold, joining DICE, Criterion, and Ripple Effect in building a Battlefield universe across connected multiplayer experiences and single-player.
