The Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo’s next-generation hybrid video game console and successor to the current best-selling model, should be easy to find at retail when it launches, making it less of a target for scalpers, according to new comments shared by Shuntaro Furukawa, president of Nintendo. Furukawa was asked during a recent Q&A as to whether Nintendo was still committed to taking measures against resales by securing sufficient production of hardware, and according to the executive, the company is continuing to make progress on these measures.
Furukawa mentioned (machine translation):
- “As a countermeasure against resale, we believe that the most important thing is to produce a solid number that can meet customer demand, and this idea has not changed since last year.”
- “In addition to that, we are considering whether we can take some measures within the scope permitted by law, based on the circumstances of each region.”
- “In addition, last year and the year before that, there was a shortage of semiconductor components that prevented us from producing a sufficient amount of Nintendo Switch hardware, but this situation has now been resolved.”
- “Even for successor models, we do not believe that the shortage of parts and materials will have a significant impact on production at this time.”

I don't remember the first one being that big of a deal in terms of scalping. At least not like the PS5 was anyway.
2017-2018 for the switch, was scalping back then as huge as it became now? Idk , I dont remember. Scalping is a disease with a simple cure: dont buy from scalpers!. Never have, never will... Yet, plenty do.
