Conclusion

This marks one of our first looks at Acer Predator memory that is being produced under license by BIWIN. Quite frankly, the presentation of the Predator Hermes 6800MHz memory and its in-hand feel is unmatched by any memory kit that I’ve had my hands on. The weight and appearance of it set high expectations for its performance as it just feels like quality in hand.
From a performance perspective, we pitted the Predator Hermes 6800MHz memory up against the Addgame Spider X5 6400MHz memory kit that we reviewed a while back, and across the board, it held its own, trading blows across our suite of benchmarks.
From an overclocking perspective, we were able to stabilize it at 7200MHz of speed at its original shipped timings which is one of the better overclocking efforts we’ve seen out of memory.
Final Points
In summary, the Acer Predator Hermes 6800MHz memory kit is a well-built kit that both performs and overclocks well. The memory’s weight makes it feel like a quality kit and its impressive size is certainly an eye-catcher (so long as it doesn’t get in the way of your jumbo air cooler).
Unfortunately, from a pricing and availability perspective in the US and European markets, this memory is nowhere to be found. BIWIN was not able to provide a projected market price or availability date (we’ve been asking since last year) so there’s really no way to conclude on its value. If you look at the availability in various Asian and Australian markets, it’s priced significantly higher than premium memory in the US, thus, is probably (hopefully) not the price that it would arrive in the US at. The pricing component of our review score is adjusted accordingly and quite frankly, results in a much lower aggregate score than this kit should get.
That being said, if the memory ever does arrive on the market here in the US, it’s certainly worth adding to your shortlist for a premium build.
