These two additional months will give us the chance to fix more “unexpected anomalies” (or simply “bugs”, as you call them). We are always grateful for your ongoing support and understanding – it means the world to us. We’re just as eager as you are to finally release the game and for you to experience it for yourself.”

Yevhen Grygorovych, Game Director at GSC Game World

GSC Gamescom will go behind the scenes to explore the development process for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl while revealing new cutscenes, gameplay, a world overview, and game locations.

About (per press release):

“S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl is the latest installment in the acclaimed series that has captivated millions of players globally. This new entry combines first-person shooter elements with immersive sim mechanics and horror, delivering a uniquely intense experience. Featuring unprecedented scale, advanced graphics, and a rich, atmospheric adventure, it promises to be the ultimate S.T.A.L.K.E.R. journey.”

Description (per official website):

“The Heart of Chornobyl has never been beating so loud as it is right now. The Zone is calling for stalkers, who are ready to delve into the non-linear journey through a sinister open world in the Eastern European post-apocalyptic setting.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl applies the full potential of Unreal Engine 5 as well as motion capture and photogrammetry technologies to provide you with benchmark-setting graphics and ultimate immersion into the game world. The advanced artificial intelligence system will compel the stalker to utilize a tactical approach against numerous enemies, challenging and keeping even the most hard-boiled players engaged. A-Life 2.0 life-simulating system builds a holistic live environment where player’s actions have an impact on the world of the Zone.

Dangerous mutants and deadly anomalies will not be the only obstacles on your journey. You will feel all the griefs of a new stalker life while searching and consuming rare and valuable supplies — food, drinks, meds, alcohol, etc. Immersive survival mechanics will be enriching the gameplay on the path through the branched storyline.”

I know the key to happiness is having low expectations, but I have been looking forward to this one for just about 15 years now.

I have no idea if it will be able to live up to expectations at this point :p

I did play the original and as such am not very interested, all I remember from the original is that is was hard as hell and a royal pita as a result.

Every time I killed one or two enemies more showed up to the point I just gave up unable to ptogress.

This is another game where I'd need a demo before making any decisions.

As a child of the 70’s I was part of the many who became enthralled by the video arcade invasion of the 1980’s. Saving money from various odd jobs I purchased my first computer from a friend of my dad, a used Atari 400, around 1982. Eventually it would end up being a lifelong passion of upgrading and modifying equipment that, of course, led into a career in IT support.
