Crafting the VANGUARD Graphics Cards: The Thermal Design
Like our RTX 50-series SUPRIM graphics cards, the VANGUARD line also boasts our latest and greatest thermal design – the Hyper Frozr thermal solution.
What is Hyper Frozr?
It’s our most advanced thermal design yet, combining a host of improvements to the heatsink, fans, and internals for unmatched thermal efficiency. The key elements to this next-gen thermal design from MSI are our latest STORMFORCE Fans, an Advanced Vapor Chamber, the Wave Curved 4.0 heatsink with Filled Fins, and Air Antegrade Fins 2.0.
Each element is designed to tame the monstrous potential of the RTX 50-series graphics cards – extracting every last drop of performance from NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs without hitting thermal limits.
STORMFORCE Fans
The MSI VANGUARD RTX 50-Series graphics cards feature three STORMFORCE Fans, each equipped with seven claw-textured blades and a full circular arc design to maximize air pressure and focus airflow toward the center. It boosts cooling efficiency by 37.1% and improves airflow by 14.7%, ensuring peak performance for far longer under heavy loads.
The STORMFORCE Fan manages to push out more air at lower noise levels – offering whisper- quiet operation. It represents the pinnacle of MSI’s thermal engineering prowess, and incorporates decades of advancements to deliver exceptional thermal efficiency.
Advanced Vapor Chamber
A more Advanced Vapor Chamber sits at the heart of every VANGUARD graphics card – quickly moving heat away from both the GPU and VRAM and transferring it to the Improved Core Pipes. This new vapor chamber is now thicker and significantly better at removing heat compared to its predecessors.
Hyper Frozr: Heatsink Innovations
A slew of heatsink innovations make the Hyper Frozr really shine – improving heat dissipation and efficiency without increasing noise. First, is the Wave Curved 4.0 heatsink, with wave edges and a high-low fin design specifically crafted to enhance airflow.
The Filled Fins in the heatsink further improve airflow using precision-engineered fin structures that maximize surface area for heat dissipation while reducing air resistance. This allows for excellent cooling performance without all the accompanying noise.
Last, but not least, is the Air Antegrade Fin 2.0 – a thermal innovation that’s engineered to tweak airflow behavior using precisely-angled fin stacks – further improving heat dissipation across the heatsink. It ensures that cool air is directed toward the heat centers, again, without raising noise levels.
