In the event that the Nintendo Switch 2 is released and the sequel to Nintendo’s best-selling hybrid console cannot be found at any retailers, players will have at least one person they can directly blame, according to a new story that Japan’s Nikkei shared today, one in which Shuntaro Furukawa, Nintendo’s president, is quoted as having said that Nintendo has taken every step to ensure that the system will be available on release, including those that will hopefully diminish the efforts of scalpers.
“We will take all possible measures based on the experience we have accumulated to date (regarding scalpers and the like),” reads a translation of Furukawa’s quote that was shared online. “We are making preparations.”
Furukawa’s assurance comes on the same day that Nintendo announced that “Nintendo Direct: Nintendo Switch 2″—a special edition of the broadcast where the company plans to deliver new details on its latest system—will premiere on Wednesday, April 2, at 6 a.m. PT.
“Nintendo Switch 2 plays Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive games, as well as both physical and digital Nintendo Switch games,” Nintendo confirmed in its original announcement dated January 16. “Certain Nintendo Switch games may not be supported on or fully compatible with Nintendo Switch 2.”
“Nintendo will also hold Nintendo Switch 2 Experience events, where consumers can go hands-on with Nintendo Switch 2, in cities around the world,” the company added before providing a number of host cities and the relevant dates, including those for North America, Europe, Oceania, and Asia.
