Mafia: The Old Country
Mafia: The Old Country was released to PC in August of 2025 and is based on the Unreal Engine 5 game engine. Mafia: The Old Country features Nanite and Lumen from Unreal Engine 5 with detailed environments and realistic lighting, with MetaHuman for characters. It does use Lumen for realistic global illumination and shadows. It also supports DLSS, FSR, XeSS, and TSR. We are using a manual in-game run-through in the Prologue: Tremori section that takes place outdoors, in the entirety of the outdoor section playthrough in the daylight.
Native Resolution
The first graph below is at the “Epic” quality preset, the second graph is at the “Medium” quality preset, and the third graph is at the “Low” quality preset at 1080p.



Mafia: The Old Country is a very demanding game at the higher quality levels, using UE5’s Lumen and global illumination. For academic reasons, we tried out “Ultra” settings in the game, but as you can see, the GeForce RTX 5050 is nowhere near playable, with average at 34FPS and 1% Low at 20FPS. The GeForce RTX 4060 edges it out, and it’s much faster than the GeForce RTX 3050, but really, you won’t be playable at the higher quality levels in this game on the GeForce RTX 5050, even at 1080p.
Even moving down to the “Medium” setting is not playable on the GeForce RTX 5050 at native resolution at 1080p. Even at “Medium,” the GeForce RTX 5050 averages 50FPS with 1% Lows at 35FPS. The GeForce RTX 5050 lags slightly behind the GeForce RTX 4060, and is 57% faster than the GeForce RTX 3050 and 4% faster than the Radeon RX 7600.
Even at “Low” settings, performance is not that great on the GeForce RTX 5050 here. You can see that it averages 54FPS, and the 1% Low is at 39FPS, so even at “Low” it is not a good experience at Native Resolution. The GeForce RTX 5050 also lags behind the GeForce RTX 4060 and Radeon RX 7600. It is 57% faster than the GeForce RTX 3050. You are going to be required to enable DLSS Upscaling at 1080p on the GeForce RTX 5050 for this game.
DLSS Upscaling


In the first above graph, we are running the game at “Medium” game quality with DLSS Upscaling at Quality. Finally, this game feels playable; it is at 79FPS on the GeForce RTX 5050, but the 1% Lows are still not above 60FPS. Performance-wise, the GeForce RTX 5050 is on par with the GeForce RTX 4060 and 53% faster than the GeForce RTX 3050 and 7% faster than the Radeon RX 7600.
Only on the “Low” quality preset at 1080p with DLSS Upscaling can the GeForce RTX 5050 hit 60FPS on the 1% Lows, and 84FPS average in this game. It still lags behind the GeForce RTX 4060, but is on par with the GeForce RTX 7600 on averages. The GeForce RTX 5050 is 54% faster than the GeForce RTX 3050.
