Indiana Jones and the Great Circle

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle was released to PC in December of 2024 and is based on the Motor (id Tech 7) engine. This is another game that runs with ‘ray tracing’ enabled at all times by default. This game features ray-traced global illumination, sun shadows, and reflections, and has additional full path tracing options on supported video cards. The game also features NVIDIA DLSS, frame generation, textures, shadows, environments, and lighting. For this game, we are using an in-game manual run-through in an open outdoor area of The Stolen Cat Mummy: The Vatican mission with bright sunlight.

Native Resolution

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle 1080p Medium Quality Preset Native Resolution Performance Graph

In Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, we could not run above the “Medium” graphics quality on any of these 8GB video cards; even at 1080p, the game would refuse to work due to limited VRAM capacity for higher settings. At “Medium,” the GeForce RTX 5050 is very playable in this game and provides the highest performance. It provides over 100FPS average, and 1% Lows above 75FPS. It was faster than the GeForce RTX 4060 on 1% Lows by 11%. The GeForce RTX 5050 was faster than the GeForce RTX 3050 by 59% and faster than the Radeon RX 7600 by 123%.

DLSS Upscaling

We did not need to enable DLSS Upscaling in this game, but by doing so, the GeForce RTX 5050 allows the highest 1% Lows at 80FPS. This makes it much faster than the GeForce RTX 4060 by 23%. The GeForce RTX 5050 was also 43% faster than the GeForce RTX 3050 and 112% faster than the Radeon RX 7600.

REVIEW OVERVIEW

SUMMARY

The GeForce RTX 5050 provides a big upgrade to the four year old GeForce RTX 3050, allowing a better gameplay experience in modern games at 1080p, with lowered settings, or DLSS Upscaling. The GeForce RTX 5050 provides modern features, and current generation NVIDIA RTX features, and video encoding/decoding. The GeForce RTX 4060 is almost a GeForce RTX 4060 in performance, but at a lower price point, and more power efficient, which makes it a great choice for entry-level, and small form factor gaming builds. This is a great way to step into gaming, though to really be a "game changer" 12GB of VRAM would have been preferred at this price point of $249.
