Black Myth: Wukong

Black Myth: Wukong was released in August of 2024 and is based on the Unreal Engine 5. Black Myth: Wukong features realistic lighting, shadows, a detailed environment detailed by motion capture, and utilizes the Lumen Global Illumination lighting system. The game also features Ray Tracing, global illumination, and shadows. We are utilizing the game’s built-in graphics preset options for main graphics and Ray Tracing. We are also using the DLSS and Upscaling option at 66% quality mode for all GPUs. We utilize the built-in benchmark for testing. We are reporting the Low 5th result from the benchmark result.

Native Resolution

Black Myth: Wukong

In Black Myth: Wukong, we needed to lower the in-game graphics settings from the highest levels due to performance. In this game, the “Cinematic” image quality preset is very demanding, in fact too demanding even for the GeForce RTX 5060 Ti at 1080p. When we lower the game down to the “High” graphics preset, we get very smooth and playable gameplay performance at native resolution 1080p without needing Upscaling to achieve that. The PNY GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 8GB OC provides 77FPS average at 1080p native and “High” settings for a smooth experience. This is 4% faster than the Radeon RX 9060 XT 8GB video card. With DLSS Upscaling that boosts it to 110FPS average. Overclocking the PNY GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 8GB OC provides a 4% uplift.

Ray Tracing w/ DLSS Upscaling

Black Myth: Wukong Ray Tracing

In Black Myth: Wukong, we can turn on Ray Tracing, so we attempted it at 1080p with the game graphics still on “High” settings, and we used Ray Tracing “Medium” with DLSS Quality Upscaling enabled. In this combination, the PNY GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 8GB OC does provide a playable, smooth experience in this game at 80FPS average. Therefore, it is capable of Ray Tracing, albeit at these lowered settings, and with DLSS Upscaling. The PNY GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 8GB OC is 67% faster than the Radeon RX 9060 XT 8GB video card with Ray Tracing, which is massive. The Radeon RX 9060 XT 8GB is not playable, but the PNY GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 8GB OC is. Overclocking the PNY GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 8GB OC provides a 5% uplift in performance.

SUMMARY

The PNY GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 8GB Overclocked Dual Fan Video Card Review is priced at NVIDIA reference MSRP of $379.99 for an 8GB GeForce RTX 5060 Ti, and offers a factory overclocked video card, in a slim 2-slot compact configuration. It can provide a playable 1080p gameplay experience with Ultra game settings, and maximum graphics. It is also capable of DLSS 4 and 4.5 Upscaling with Ray Tracing, and it is performant in several games. Compared to the competition it is faster, especially in Ray Tracing titles. That is a powerhouse of a 1080p gamer. Very nice... I'd call it budget it it's still almost as much as a modern console... oof.

I admit I jumped on the 8GB hate bandwagon of late, but very happy to see how well this card performs at 1080p.

I remember doing some tests with my 4090 a couple of years ago at 1080p with settings maxed to just see what FPS my rigs were capable of, but I was also shocked by how nice modern games can look at 1080p w/ current textures, RT, etc., so a value-priced card like this providing the same visuals is a great deal. I even noticed how the Amazon price dropped to $349 for now.

i think a lot of folks are doing a 180 now that more RAM requires a credit check and reverse mortgage

Maybe Ram Doubler will make a comeback.

Paying $350 for 8GB in 2026. That's a hard no from me dawg. It'll probably be consider a hot deal in a few months. The dark times have returned.

Linux and indie gaming is on the rise, I kid you not. Younger gamers with little cheddar grow weary of corpo greed. But not just the cash strapped either. My son has a 5800X3D, 32GB 3600, 7800XT. You know what he and his friends are playing? Vintage Story. It will run on a decade old potato. Tarkov is the only game they play that is hard to run. Also indie. Almost everything they play is indie.
