Power and Temp

On this page, we are going to look at the power utilization and video card temperatures. We will utilize GPU-Z and HWiNFO64 and real-world gaming in Cyberpunk 2077 with a manual run-through at demanding settings; these results are based on real-world in-game testing.

Power

Board Power Graph

The default TDP on the Radeon RX 9060 XT 8GB model is 150W. However, partner OC cards can allow for higher TDPs on the Radeon RX 9060 XT. The XFX Swift Radeon RX 9060 XT OC Gaming Edition 8GB reached a board power of 182W in our testing, proving this out. The higher power does allow for higher boosted clock speeds and the overall factory overclock. At 182W board power, it matches the GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 8GB in power. Overclocking the XFX Swift Radeon RX 9060 XT OC Gaming Edition 8GB increases the board power by 11%, and we can see that the extra Power Target is working to allow it to reach 200W.

Temperature

GPU Temperature Graph

In default performance, the XFX Swift Radeon RX 9060 XT OC Gaming Edition 8GB performs exceptionally well on GPU Temperature testing. The XFX Swift Radeon RX 9060 XT OC Gaming Edition 8GB only hit 57c at default, and overclocked 56c with the fans on auto, spinning up just a bit faster. This video card runs super cool, and 16 degrees cooler than the GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 8GB.

Memory Temperature Graph

The memory temperature on the XFX Swift Radeon RX 9060 XT OC Gaming Edition 8GB does run hotter than the GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 8GB. This is due to the difference in GDDR modules; the GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 8GB uses GDDR7 while the XFX Swift Radeon RX 9060 XT OC Gaming Edition 8GB uses GDDR6. The XFX Swift Radeon RX 9060 XT OC Gaming Edition 8GB runs at 82c, which is 14 degrees warmer. However, 82c is not concerning; this is a fine temp for the Radeon RX 9060 XT and GDDR6.

Fan Speeds

Looking at the fan speeds on the XFX Swift Radeon RX 9060 XT OC Gaming Edition 8GB, we can see that it starts off around 24% fan speed, and ramps up to above 35%, then tapers off and sustains around 24% long-term. The RPMs also peak around 1400RPM upwards, but then does settle below 1000RPM. This means the fans peak at a louder volume at the onset of gaming, but then settle down to inaudible noise levels for the duration of gaming.

GPU-Z Screenshots

The GPU Voltage on the XFX Swift Radeon RX 9060 XT OC Gaming Edition 8GB defaults to 1.049V, and when we overclocked that automatically increased to 1.085V at peak. This accounted for the fans being at 37% at default, and peaking at 41% when overclocked. Otherwise, everything looks normal here, and the Board Power did increase appropriately to 200W.
