After months of seemingly no updates or rumors, someone is making claims that the final entry in the trilogy is still in development and a launch announcement is on the way. It’s been a spell since Star Wars Jedi: Survivor arrived on PC and consoles in 2023. That game continued the adventures of Cal Kestis which following the events of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order five years prior, and while it was somewhat immediately revealed that these were intended to be a trilogy and the third game was in the works, the gaming and tech industry has since then been put into a blender.

A near-uncountable number of industry-wide layoffs and studio closures have seen many projects cancelled or abandoned, and the teams over at Respawn Entertainment were no exception. Star Wars Jedi director Stig Asmussen left the studio along with some other team members, which cast doubt on when or if the studio would complete the third game, but now, according to Star Wars info leaker Fiveswalker, we could be learning more very soon, and the next game could launch as soon as next year.

“Yes, Jedi 3 will be next year. Marketing will start to occur sooner than you think. I would bet even before TGA. Very exciting time for SW games.”

– Fiveswalker

So if this information is accurate, Respawn may give a reveal soon, but it wouldn’t be unlikely if there was a larger reveal at the upcoming The Game Awards on December 10. One other wild card to consider is EA who was recently sold in a $55 billion deal and perhaps may have plans of its own for the upcoming game’s release and reveal. The Star Wars Jedi games have been some of the more successfull games in recent years and at one point there were even rumors of a potential movie or streaming tv series but not much has been said in the last year or so at this point it’s anybody’s guess but fans are assuredly, anxiously, awaiting closure for the acclaimed series. Meanwhile, those feeling the need to go to a galaxy far, far away ought to check out Star Wars Zero Company, a single-player turn-based title which has received its share of positive reviews.

As a child of the 70’s I was part of the many who became enthralled by the video arcade invasion of the 1980’s. Saving money from various odd jobs I purchased my first computer from a friend of my dad, a used Atari 400, around 1982. Eventually it would end up being a lifelong passion of upgrading and modifying equipment that, of course, led into a career in IT support.
