Watch Dogs, the action-adventure video game franchise from Ubisoft that allows players to live out their hacker fantasies in an open world, is getting the live-action treatment, according to a new blog post from Ubisoft that explains how production on the Watch Dogs movie is scheduled to begin this summer. Tom Blyth (The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes) and Sophie Wilde (Talk to Me) have been tapped to lead the film, which will feature an original story set in the Watch Dogs universe, while Mathieu Turi (The Deep Dark) has been listed as its director.
The franchise currently comprises three titles:
- Watch Dogs (2014, Chicago)
- Watch Dogs 2 (2016, San Francisco)
- Watch Dogs: Legion (2020, London)

Ubisoft revealed in 2022 that Legion would no longer be getting any more updates:
TU 5.6 was our final update for Watch Dogs: Legion. However, you can look forward to reward tracks in the Online Mode, containing both new and returning rewards. The current season 4 Rebels track, containing 80 ranks, will run until January 22, 2022, followed by Season 5 Stripes. After that, Seasons 3-5 will continue to cycle and return to the game, giving you the opportunity to acquire rewards you might have missed out on in the past. Some rewards to look forward to is a modified version of Aiden Pearce’s jacket, and Jackson’s mask and clothing set.
