The PlayStation 5 Pro, an updated version of Sony’s best-selling console that is said to deliver several improvements over its original 2020 counterpart, including 45% faster GPU rendering and improved ray tracing performance, will look a lot like the PS5 Slim, a new look for the system that Sony launched at the tail end of 2023, according to an illustration based on leaked materials that have been shared online. The new system, which appears to be only slightly thicker than the PS5 Slim, is expected to be announced in the first half of September 2024.
From a report:
- “…we can see a design very similar to that of the PS5 Slim . We will find the same white color of the exterior facade of the console. 2 USB-C ports and the power button will also be present on the front of the console.”
- “The first difference that can be noticed from our sketch is the presence of three black stripes in the middle of the outer facades of the PS5 Pro.”
- “The type of outer facade, however, remains similar to that of the PS5 Slim. And we imagine that it is possible to reuse the replacement facades designed for the PS5 Slim.”
- “The other difference that we can only see from the final visual of the PS5 Pro is its thickness. Indeed, the PS5 Pro appears slightly thicker than the PS5 Slim.”
- “…we’ll still have the same DualSense controller included with the PS5 Pro in white (this is already included in the PS5 and PS5 Slim).”
A look at the PS5 Pro:
As for its missing disk drive:
…we are not sure about this yet. Because indeed, the visual we have comes from a PS5 Pro without a disc player . However, and even if we think that this will not be the case, we do not know about the existence of an edition with a disc player. Even if it will probably be possible to put a disc player on it (like the PS5 Slim).
