The PlayStation 5 Pro, an updated version of the 2020 video game console from Sony Interactive Entertainment that will be available for purchase from retailers this Thursday for $699.99, features an AMD Radeon GPU with 16.7 TFLOPS of compute performance, according to a specifications sheet for the system that has been shared by members of the press. This is 6.4 TFLOPS higher than the standard and slim versions of the original PS5, both of which are advertised by Sony as delivering 10.3 TFLOPS. See below for the spec sheet and an unboxing video, the latter of which includes a look at the included cables and how the PS5 Pro compares to the older models in size.
But it’s the 16.7TF of GPU compute performance that is new information. Sony has not actually given any kind of TFLOPs number for the PlayStation 5 Pro, but prior leaks have suggested around 33.5TF – a somewhat exaggerated number that arrived with AMD RDNA 3 architecture with its dual issue FP32 functionality. Sony’s confirmation of 16.7TF suggests that the dual issue FP32 support is not in the PlayStation 5 Pro – not that this is too much of a big deal as it has very, very little impact on gaming performance.
