Latency Killer, a new BIOS function that, as suggested by its name, reduces DDR5 latency on AM5 platforms, can reduce the latency of Ryzen 9 9900X CPUs by 12.3%, according to new benchmarks shared by MSI. The Ryzen 7 9800X3D, AMD’s first Zen 5 CPU with 3D V-Cache, is also said to see a similar benefit, with the company stating a latency reduction of 8.8%. See below for the benchmarks, as well as AIDA64 memory benchmark results for the aforementioned chips from AMD.

The Latency Killer is a new feature of MSI AMD motherboards that reduces memory latency to 12%, optimizing the latency for users. It also allows users to fine-tune latency and memory performance with other exclusive BIOS functions like EXPO / A-XMP profile, Memory Try It, High-Efficiency Mode, or manual overclocking settings.
The Latency Killer function will soon be available for all MSI AM5 series motherboards and is compatible with all Ryzen 9000 series processors.
