“Golden Rabbit Edition,” a label that AMD used for some of its Radeon GPUs that were initially launched exclusively for the Chinese market (e.g., the Radeon RX 7900 GRE), is no more, according to a new report out of China that discusses how red team has realized that it’s no longer the Year of the Rabbit, so it has updated the meaning of “GRE” accordingly to avoid having to introduce new acronyms for its GPUs every year.
“Time flies, and in 2025, it is already the Year of the Snake, so it is not appropriate to call it the Golden Rabbit Edition, right? So, GRE has a new meaning – ‘Great Radeon Edition’, which sounds super powerful and great!” the report reads. “Imagine that we will see more AMD GRE graphics cards in the future, which will become a super cool tradition in the Chinese market!”
See below for a marketing shot of the Radeon RX 7650 GRE, the first GPU from AMD that will be sold under the revised “Great Radeon Edition” label, featuring 32 CUs, 8 GB of GDDR6 memory, and official frequencies of up to 2,695 MHz.
“Enjoy smooth gaming, watching TV series, and upgrading your experience,” reads a machine-translated description of the GPU that can be be found on AMD’s official website for the China region. “The AMD Radeon RX 7650 GRE desktop graphics card brings you an excellent next-generation gaming and streaming experience.”
