A leaked package image for the PowerColor Red Devil AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT confirms a familiar appetite for the upcoming GPU. The AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT will be formally announced in a couple of weeks on February 28 and is planned to launch in March. Complete specifications for it have not yet been revealed but the RDNA 4 GPU is expected to compete with NVIDA’s upcoming GeForce RTX 5070 while potentially being priced ~$700 to over $1,000 whereas the non-XT model could be around $500-$600 range. The newly leaked image shows a 900 Watt or greater recommend system power and while that seems high, it actually is in line with its predecessor the Red Devil AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX.
Earlier this week a rumor suggested that AMD might be working on 32 GB variant of the Radeon RX 9070 XT, something that might seem odd but such configurations are not wholly uncommon for mid-range graphics cards that could be used for either gaming or AI tasks. However, cheif architect of Gaming Solutions and Marketing Frank Azor quickly refruted the rumor stating that the graphics card would not be offered with doubled VRAM. This is probably for the best since overclocked versions of the GPU such are known (via official product images and a CES 25 video) to have 3x 8-pin connectors so doubling the memory from 16 GB GDDR6 to 32 GB GDDR6 could entail adding a fourth connector.
One other spec confirmed in the above image is that the Radeon 9070 XT will feature 64 compute units. It is believed that total board power for the PowerColor Red Devil AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT could be over 300W and have a 3.0 GHz boost clock.
