More of the same isn’t necessarily a bad thing, as RoboCop: Rogue City – Unfinished Business gets a warm reception from players and reviewers alike. Nacon and developer Teyon proved that you could release a title based on a popular movie franchise and remain true to the original vision, which created a sizable fan base. From reboots to remakes, most folks are used to being disappointed, as sad as that is, when someone decides to impart their “vision” on an established IP, but when RoboCop: Rogue City arrived, many were surprised by its faithful re-creation of old Detroit and its occupants, along with original actor Peter Weller returning to voice the famous cyborg, and straightfoward gameplay with fairly good visuals, it pretty much sealed the deal for fans and newcomers to give it a try. The success of that 2023 title led to Nacon quickly announcing the new follow-up, which appears to be off to a good start.
The pros for RoboCop: Rogue City – Unfinished Business are that the developers mostly stuck with what worked in the first game, and not much has changed, but Officer Murphy does get a new freeze-gun weapon this time around, and there are some new enemies to contend with. Beyond that, as IGN put it, Robocopy and Robopaste. If you enjoyed the first game and wanted more, then you’re in for a treat, but if you had your fill of the story the first time around, then another trip to OmniTower might not be worth making. Depending on one’s perspective and expectations, the game can be considered anything from mediocre to pretty good, so whether or not you should buy that for a dollar, or more accurately, thirty more, really comes down to how much you liked the first one. We have more details about the story here.
